After quite a long/tiring drive we made it into the city with an hour to spare to check in before the first interview/tour. We quickly checked into the hotel. After spending tons of time picking hotels my lovely husband found out about HotelsTonight . We've been using it for over a year now and wouldn't use any other app to book a hotel. The app offers you to pick your location a couple nights before and pick for hotels who have extra rooms and lower prices. Numerous times we have booked a hotel that would have been crazy expensive if not booked through the app. This trip we booked the hotel primarily for space and easy access to the subway to get back and forth. We booked Homewood Suites located beside Penn Station. We quickly changed William in their bathroom and then checked our bags in at the desk.
We grabbed his snacks, put the schools address in google maps and hopped on the subway. Now that Williams walking it is much easier for one of us to walk William down the steps to the subway and the other to grab the stroller and bag. William thinks it's such a big deal to take the subway so he is easily amused to walk through. Unfortunately, he began to get cranky on the subway so we whipped out the fire.
After a day full of preschool tours and a 2 mile walk we got back to the hotel to actually get our room. I honestly was on the rocks regarding the hotel but was swept away when we walked through the door. We've stayed in many hotels in the city but this was by far the most family friendly!! The room was huge!! Perfect for a toddler. It had a kitchenette, extra couch that folded out, and a lovely shower.
On the kitchenette, the hotel offers a cute little paper that you can make a grocery list for the hotel to get items you need while out.
The bed was quite large and so comfortable. William actually fit on the bed with us. We were going to place him on the fold out couch but we got way to comfortable.
Not only was the room delightful but the hotel offered Monday-Thursday a happy hour from 5-7pm. The happy hour offers free wine & beer to hotel guests. Not only was happy hour offered but a full breakfast and dinner during the week is offered with the stay. The hotel room had a dinner menu for the entire month. We had already made dinner plans so unfortunately missed the dinners but the breakfast was yummy! Tons of options-especially for a toddler. William loved walking around the breakfast buffet and picking his food.
I highly encourage you to book this hotel if your traveling with family but also to use HotelsTonight.
